What are the differences with wax coating or “bomb-proofing” my mittens?

The most noticeable difference with the all-natural wax coating is the appearance of your Frontier Mittens. The added wax results in a darker, antiqued look where the wax accentuates the character and nuances of the leather. It is very similar to how wood grains come alive when stained.

How do I add the customized hand-branded initials to my pledge?

To receive hand-branded initials on your mittens, select desired reward tier to support the campaign, then add $5 to your pledge amount PER PAIR of mittens you would like branded with initials. NOTE: After the campaign ends, a survey will be sent to you - this is when you will provide the initials to be branded for each pair of mittens.

Is there a limit to characters / letters to have branded on the mittens?

Yes, you will be able to choose up to 3 letters or characters for hand-branding on your mittens. The characters / letters you choose in the survey after the campaign ends will be branded on both the left and the right mittens.

I want to get a pair of Frontier Mittens as a Holiday gift, how do I determine their size?

In addition to the sizing details found on the campaign page, we will provide Backers with a Gifting Sizing Guide to assist in selecting your mitten sizes for lucky gift recipients. This Gifting Sizing Guide will be available through the post-campaign survey which will be sent after the end of the campaign.

Are the mittens unisex in fit?

Yes, our mittens are unisex in design and fit, available in sizes from X-Small to XXX-Large. We worked with 150+ male and female testers in the last year to dial in the fit and sizes to ensure you’re good to go! The sizing chart and guidelines are provided to determine your mitten size selection. This information will be collected from you through the backer survey which will be provided to you after the campaign ends.

I was a backer for the 4-Season Gloves, should I get the same size for the Frontier Mittens?

While the construction and design of the Frontier Mittens very closely resembles the 4-Season Gloves, it is best to reference the sizing charts supplied on the Campaign Page (they will also be included when we ask for your size at the end of the campaign). We have done extensive sizing research and are confident that by following the measurement steps and using the table, you will get the correct size!

Can you tell me where these are being manufactured?

The materials and layers to produce the mittens are being sourced from multiple regions throughout Europe, Asia, India and the US. The majority of leather tanning, preparation and stitching will be completed by our trusted partners of 5+ years in Pakistan, who happen to be among the best hands-on leather working team there is! All mitten oven-baking, wax coating and hand-branding (of custom initials) will take place in Jackson Hole at Give’r HQ!

Because of the tight timeline associated with our fulfillment goals, the exact offerings via Backerkit are yet to be finalized. As an international backer, why can’t I choose the “4-Pack” reward?

In researching and projecting the shipping options for multi-packs, we found that the shipping costs became quite astronomical with any quantities above the 2-Packs. While we examined many possibilities for ways to reduce this estimated cost, we believe that shipping fees well above $60 was too high to be considered reasonable and therefore limited reward options to single unit and 2-pack tiers. If we find a way to change this, we’ll let you know and hope you can understand our efforts to be fair and looking out for backers as best we can in every step of the process!

What cleaning and care is needed for the Mittens?

Detailed information on mitten care will be included with each pair of Frontier Mittens when rewards are sent out! These are some general guidelines for how to best clean and care for your mittens to ensure a lifetime of given’r! Cleaning - To clean the mittens, use a damp cloth to wipe away dirt from surface of mittens. Do not submerge in water or use soap. - Do not try to turn mittens inside out, as the insulation and membrane layers are specially attached to outer leather and if damaged, can be difficult to put back into place. - We do not advise you to wash the Frontier Mittens frequently. If you do wash them, put mittens on and use a small amount of mild soap and lukewarm water. Do not twist, but gradually squeeze the water out and proceed with drying at room temperature. Can use fan for increased rate of drying. Care - If looking to add protection to the leather exterior on your own, we recommend a natural wax coating, or non-silicone based, leather treatment. The wax helps to retain natural moisture content and preserve the integrity of the premium leather. Additionally, the coating will prevent dirt or dust from getting into the leather pores. - If any moisture build up occurs inside the mittens, it is best to dry out at room temperature. For best results, have mittens in an upright position and ensure maximum air flow in and out of mitten. High sun exposure or a fan can be used to expedite the drying process. Can also utilize any accessible products that absorb moisture or allow for air flow (i.e. boot dryer, shoe dehydrator, newspaper etc.). Avoid tumble-driers, ovens or high heat sources.

What is your return / exchange policy?

While we state a no exchange/return policy on Kickstarter (as that is the protocol on this platform), we are 100% dedicated to ensuring you’re happy with your Give’r Gear. While we can make that happen for you, we would just ask for a little patience (if that were to be the case) as the campaign fulfillment process and Holiday season will likely be a busy one, and we’ll need a little time to cover all the bases. So, short answer, we’ve got your back!

Through the support of our Kickstarter backers, we have been able to bring to life two dream products (4-Season Gloves and Ol’ Faithful Midweight Pullover) and we hope soon enough our third in the Frontier Mittens The support from backers is what enables us to bring creativity and solutions to life while helping run and grow our business, connect with the greater Give’r community and ensure we’re best equipped to give’r ourselves.

In the Kickstarter community, the items received after making a pledge are titled as rewards because they are not purchases in the traditional sense. Rather, they are gifts or signs of our appreciation to our backers for supporting our team and business. Do you have a guarantee/warranty?

We’re making these Mittens to last and are guaranteeing that each pair is of the highest quality possible. We know how important your gear is and want to be sure you are equipped to Give’r in whatever way you choose. If any mitten is received with defects or errors, we will repair or replace it free of charge.

Shipping: When will I get my Frontier Mittens?

We are confident that each reward will ship by the projected dates associated with the corresponding reward tier (stated at the bottom of each reward). That means that all backers who complete their post campaign surveys accurately and on time should receive their Mittens well before Christmas. We are not able to guarantee that shipments will be received before Christmas - but we can guarantee that we’ll do everything we can to make this a reality. Throughout the campaign and beyond, know that we’ll shoot you straight and keep you in the loop with where things stand.

Shipping: Can I pick up my rewards directly from Give’r HQ?

We unfortunately cannot arrange for an office pickup as our fulfillment procedure and timing goals do not allow for manual pick-ups or deliveries in Jackson Hole. Know that we’re priming the pump to ensure all rewards are processed and shipped with the best organization and systems structure we’re capable of executing.

Shipping: Can you ship internationally? Which carrier will be used? Taxes and Fees?

  1. For international shipping, the cost covers packaging and courier costs, however non-US shipments may have applicable customs, VAT, duties/taxes which are NOT included. Please check with your customs office for specific details, noting that backer is responsible for all applicable taxes or duties.
  2. Shipments may have tracking, but we cannot guarantee (varies widely depending on the particular regional and local post services). Shipments will be sent via USPS First Class or USPS Priority International Mail. Note that we cannot adjust the value of your rewards on customs declarations documentation - the value will be declared as the total value in USD of the item(s) contained in the shipment.

How do I get another pair of leashes?

All mittens get a pair of leashes and a neck coozie per pair of mittens. So 2-pack gets 2 pairs of leashes and 2 neck coozies, and so on.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
